Bliss? - Or - Power?

They often say that 'Ignorance is bliss.'  But I have found... that... Ignorance proves to be a catalyst toward corruption!

I really wouldn't call myself a bookworm. But lately I have been feeling rather 'Bookish', lol.
                 And Dale Carnegie's book is proving to be the culprit. {^_~}

The man was a charismatic, business dealing genius!! And successful doesn't even describe the poor soul.

Perhaps it's the excitement of reading about historical figures like Abraham Lincoln, General Robert E. Lee, Clark Gable (*.*), Theodore Roosevelt, Al Capone, and all the great people from his time! But I find myself entirely engrossed within the pages of Mr. Carnegie's book.
The man has seriously done his research. So intensely it seems, that he is able to describe events of the past, as if he had been there and actually seen them himself!!
And this keeps the reader thirsting for more...

That time period... was epic! Awesome shootouts in the streets of New York, by world renown criminals... C'mon mane! How cool is that?

But besides all of the glitz and glamour that this humble little book holds inside,... it is also quite true and applicable!

For example. I have only read so far, the first couple chapters. And already, I am beginning to think that... I am waaaay to critical of myself!!
And this! THIS is a counter-productive trait!
Created... (much like my downstairs neighbor...) from years of being put down by parental criticisms.
However... you cannot entirely blame the parents. For you see, no one really understands how simple words can greatly affect a child. Be it good or bad. So I wouldn't blame them for this.

But it's a trait ingrained. That must be changed.

                  Take this excerpt, though:

"Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do.
But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving....
... Instead of condemning people, let's try to understand them. Let's try to figure out why they do what they do. That's a lot more profitable and intriguing than criticism; and it breeds sympathy, tolerance, and kindness...
As Dr. Johnson said: '"God Himself, sir, does not propose to judge man until the end of his days.'"
               Why should you and I?"

                                                                                            ~ Dale Carnegie

              Powerful words...

It kind of reminds me of this scripture:

(Prov. 19:6)  - "Many seek the favor of a noble. (or Generous man) And everyone is a friend to the man who gives gifts."

Kindness... Generosity... And Understanding... must be the keys to obtaining lasting friendships. And Sympathy is the only way to get there.

BTW:          I just submitted my college transcript. It's looking like I may be able to go back to school after all. So long as I can learn to budget in the gas to get back 'n forth. I suppose I need to do that anyways. I just... have soo many things I want to save up for. And getting my teeth fixed is one of them. But sacrifices... eh? And anyways, I shouldn't have to really worry until after August anyways. I've still got to speak with my adviser and take an assessment... But with a total 24 Credits and a 3.0 GPA I shouldn't have to worry.
